Course Overview Validation FETAC Framework Level 5 Entry Requirements: 5 passes in Leaving Certificate / LCVP or Merit in Leaving Certificate Applied or FETAC Level 4 Award. Mature entrants (over 23) can be assessed via interview and based on experience. Duration 1 Year (full-time and part-time) Full-time is 4 days per week. Part time is 2 evenings per week. This one year programme is designed to prepare participants to work in a supervised role with children aged 0 - 6 years. The syllabus is designed to emphasise the integrated nature of work with young children.Graduates will be qualified to work in a wide range of settings with different professionals and volunteers, recognising the importance of all of them in providing a service for children and their families.
Assessment:
A combination of module appropriate assessment procedures will facilitate the assessment of the programme learning outcomes.
These methods will include a combination of final written examinations and continuous assessments, collections of work and skills demonstrations.
Award:
Graduates will be awarded the FETAC Certificate in Childcare (Level 5 Award) on successful completion of the programme.

*Learners are responsible for arranging their own work experience placement. This may be completed on a part-time basis over the duration of the course or may be completed "en bloc" during holiday periods.
Candidates completing work experience must themselves obtain Garda Clearance.
Further Study:
Successful graduates will be eligible to progress to the FETAC Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Supervision in Childcare.
Graduates will be qualified to work in a wide range of settings with different professionals and volunteers in childcare ( creches, etc) in providing a service for children and their families.
